Monica Winghart Bio
Monica is the founder of Voltage Law and serves as legal advisor to a
number of organizations. A registered US Patent Attorney and one of
the world’s leading IP strategists, Monica practices at the intersection of
the law and technology with a focus on data privacy, cybersecurity,
intellectual property and tech transactions. Monica specializes in
working with tech, software, consumer products and online application
industries in high growth markets, particularly in cross-border matters
to Europe and Asia.
Throughout her career, Monica has held leadership positions with
emerging growth and Fortune 500 companies as both an engineer and
lawyer. She is fluent in working with diverse, global teams and is a
hands-on solution provider for her client’s legal matters.
Monica serves as a legal advisor for several incubators and investment
funds and counsels private and governmental organizations on privacy
and data protection matters. She has also served as the General Counsel
for multiple startups in the fields of cloud applications, fintech,
healthtech, consumer products, SaaS, education and networked
services.
Monica is a member of the California Bar and the U.S. Patent &
Trademark Bar. She is a past Chair of the IP Committee for the
Association of Corporate Counsel and a member of various Silicon
Valley/San Francisco Bay area and national professional and
philanthropic organizations. As an engineer, Monica worked with
Procter & Gamble and was the principal in an engineering consulting
firm. An avid sports fan, aspiring pilot, soccer coach and outdoor
enthusiast, Monica splits her time between Research Triangle Park and
the Bay Area with her family and a menagerie of pets.
